        Our vision is to develop the Biochemistry through Bharathidasan College of Arts and Science, Erode into a Centre for Excellence in teaching, research and extension activities in the various subjects of Life Sciences 

         Vision of the Department is to strive to impart value-based education to create innovations and to uplift the rural youth to meet the challenge of the Global Society. • The Department has two separate well equipped air-conditioned laboratories with sophisticated instruments to meet the needs of UG, PG and Research programme.
• The Department is organizing seminars, conferences & workshops in related fields funded by various agencieslike TNSCST, UGC, DST, IASc etc...
• It arranges guest lectures by scientists, research scholars and eminent persons from all over India and abroad.
• Industrial visits are arranged for students to acquire industry oriented prospective.
• Students are helped to undertake summer training in research labs, hospitals & industries.
• Its runs a Vermicompost Unit  funded by UGC and Garden of Medicinal Plants funded by management to create entepreneural skills among students and public and to know the importance of  waste management and medicinal plants.
• The Department arranges for placement from companies like YOGAM BPO, DELL, India Health Care Insurance, SCM, OMEGA, Infosys, WIPRO, VISIONARY RCM, Tamilnadu Voluntary Blood Bank and Research Centre ,Elies Biotech private ltd, Cytolab,   etc., and career counselling to pursue astounding career.

   Bharathidasan College of Arts & Science, PG & Research Dept of Biochemistry & Department of Microbiology jointly organized two days “International Conference on Interdisciplinary Approaches in Life science Research” (ICIALR) from 9.10.2023 to 10.10.2023. More than 100 students, research scholars and facult from various colleges were participated along with us. 

 

PG and Research Department of Biochemistry of Bharathidasan College of Arts and Science, Ellispettai, Erode has organized an International conference on “Confluence of Science and Technology” on 10th October, 2022. The programme was inaugurated by Dr.S.Kamesh, Principal and felicitated by Thiru. N.K.K.Periasamy, Secretary & Correspondent, Thiru.V.R. Murugan, Treasurer; Tmt.Vasanthi Sathyan, Tmt.Parimala Raaja, Joint Secretaries, Thiru.N.K.K.P.Naren Raaja, CEO and Thiru.R.Arul Kumaran, AO of our institution. The resource persons were Dr.Sathish Kumar Saravanan, Postdoctoral Scientist, International Institute of Physics, Brazil and Dr.S.Suja, Professor and Head, Department of Biochemistry, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore shared their expertise in Black hole and nanoparticles in oncology. For this Programme above 200 students from various regions participated and presented their research works. It gave platform to know role of black hole in the universe and its discoveries, metallic nanoparticles used for cancer treatment and its efficacy.  The programme was organized by Dr.S.Selvi, Associate Professor and Head, the staff members and students of PG and Research Department of Biochemistry, Bharathidasan College of Arts and Science. In the valedictory function, prizes were distributed along with certificate to oral and poster presentation winners.

    

“Biolumina” Association, PG and Research Department of Biochemistry, Bharathidasan College of Arts and Science, Erode organized “Guest lecture” on 07.09.2022. 95 students were participated and benefited.

The Welcome address was delivered by Dr.S.Selvi, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Biochemistry, Thiru.V.R.Murugan, Treasurer, Bharathidasan Institution felicitated the programme, Dr.R.Shunmughan, Principal addressed the gathering and Dr.J.Dhanalakshmi, Assistant Professor, Department of Biochemistry introduced the Chief Guest. The resource persons for the occasions were Dr.Palanisamy Arulselvan, Dr.T.Rengarajan, Managing Directors and Dr.P.Velu, Scientist, Scigen Research & Innovation Pvt.Ltd., Periyar Technology Business Incubator, Periyar Maniammai University, Thanjavur. More than 150 students, staff of UG, PG, and Research Scholars from various colleges from Erode and Coimbatore took part in the workshop and got trained in handling on Animal Tissue Culture techniques. PG and Research Department of Biochemistry organized One day Programme “Culturo Fest 2K19” on “Cultural Enlighten for Higher Secondary Students” on 24th September, 2019. Programme was inaugurated by Mr.V.R.Murugan, Treasurer Bharathidasan institutions and Dr.R.Shummughan, Principal, Bharathidasan College of Arts and Science. Dr.S.Selvi, Associate Professor and Head preside over the function, Dr.V.Senthamarai Selvi, Assistant Professor welcomes the gathering and Dr.J.Dhanalakshmi, Assistant Professor presents the vote of thanks in the programme. 60 Students from in and around erode government and private schools participated in the cultural activities like Exhibition, Wealth from Waste, Cook without Fire, Rangoli, Facial Painting and won prizes and certificates.

PG and Research Department of Biochemistry distributed plant saplings and Vermicompost in free of cost to 150 farmers on 28.08.2019 in the National Seminar on “Environmental protection” organised by the Department of Business Administration of Bharathidasan College of Arts and Science.

      

   The    PG and Research Department of Biochemistry, Bharathidasan College of Arts and Science, Erode is organized one day National Conference on “Interdisciplinary Advances in Biological Sciences” on 12.7.2019. Luminaries from the Management, Principal and world of life science graced the occasion and chaired II Technical sessions during the conference, where 50 papers were presented and compiled into a compendium. The Compendium of 50 abstracts was released by the esteemed guests and dignitaries.

 The Chief Guest for the occasion was Dr.Parvathi Ammini Senior Scientist, Division of Biological Oceanography, National Institute of Oceanography, Ernakulum, Kerala and the Guest of Honor, was Dr.Narendhirakannan R.T Assistant Professor in Biochemistry Department of Biochemistry Kongunadu Arts and Science College, Coimbatore. The Welcome address was delivered by Dr.S.Selvi, Associate professor and head, Department of Biochemistry. Ms.P.Kousalya, Assistant Professor Department of Biochemistry, delivered the vote of thanks. Other dignitaries who graced the occasion were Faculty members and students of the department. 200 students and Research Scholars from 16 various Colleges took part in the Conference.

PG and Research Department of Biochemistry, Bharathidasan College of Arts and Science, Erode and Foundation for Infrastructure Reconstruction and Employment (FfIRE),Chinnakallipatti supported by Ministry of Social Justice and Employment, Govt. of India jointly organised a Antidrug day awareness Rally and Guest Lecture program on “International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking Program” on 26.06.2019.The Rally was inaugurated by Sub-Inspector of police, Chittode and lead by Assistant Professors and students of  PG and Research Department of Biochemistry and Staff members of FfIRE.   A total of 170 students and staff members of Biochemistry department actively participated. PG & Research Department of Biochemistry and Department of Microbiology, Bharathidasan College of Arts and Science, Ellispettai, Erode organized an International Conference on “Frontiers in Ethnopharmacology and Globalization of Natural Medicine” on August 6, 2018 (Monday). Dr. Sung-Jin Kim, Professor and Chair, Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, School of Dentistry, Kyung Hee University, Seoul, South Korea delivered key note address on “Neuro production using Medicinal plants”. He highlighted “Medicinal Plants that mimic neuronal Insulin action for the prevention & treatment of Neuro Degenerative diseases”.

Mr.K.Mohanasundaram, Organic Farming Consultant, Nasiyanur, Erode, Dr.K.M.Aravinthan, Managing Director and Director of Finance and operations, Marutham BioAgeS Innovation (P) Ltd, Coimbatore and Dr.E.S.Karthy The Director, AWE CARE Analytical and Research Laboratory, Erode, were the resource persons. 

 

 

2016 - 2017
The PG and Research Department of Biochemistry – Biolumina 2017, organised a one Day Exhibition “ BIOEXHIBITS -2017” on 17th February 2017. The Exhibition was inaugurated by Thiru.V.R.Murugan, Treasurer, Bharathidasan Institutions and Dr.M.Ramamoorthy, Principal, Bharathidasan College of Arts and Science. UG, PG and Research Scholars of PG and Research Department of Biochemistry actively participated in this Exhibition and displayed their models.

The PG and Research Department of Biochemistry, Bharathidasan College of Arts and Science organized an International Conference on “Scenario in Biological Innovations” on 27 & 28, September, 2016. The programme was inaugurated by Thiru.V.R.Murugan, Treasurer, Bharathidasan Educational Institutions and Dr.M.Ramamoorthy, Principal, Bharathidasan College of Arts and Science. Dr.Kuppusamy Senthil Kumar, Research Scientist, Department of Organic Materials, Institute of Physics and Chemistry of Materials, Strasbourg, France and Dr.P.Sundararaj, D.Sc, Visiting Professor, Idaho University, USA & Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore were the resource persons. The proceedings of the conference was released and more than 200 students, research scholars and faculty members presented their research work as posters and oral presentations.

The PG and Research Department of Biochemistry, Bharathidasan College of Arts and Science along with Erode Central Rotary Club, Erode, organized a Programme on “ “Awareness on Cleanliness” on 18th August 2016, at our Campus.The programme was inaugurated by Thiru.V.R.Murugan, Treasurer, Bharathidasan Educational Institutions and Dr.M.Ramamoorthy, Principal, Bharathidasan College of Arts and Science. Rtn. P.G. Saravanan , District Rotary Assistant Governor, Erode Central Rotary Club, emphasized on the cleanliness in toilets, and its necessity to our students.

The PG and Research Department of Biochemistry, Bharathidasan College of Arts and Science along with VIMS Hospital Salem, Shri Saanthi Blood Bank Erode and Kauvery Charitable Trust Erode organized a Programme on “Basic Lifesupport and First Aid Awareness Programme” on 3.8.2016. The programme was inaugurated by Thiru.V.R.Murugan, Treasurer, Bharathidasan Educational Institutions and Dr.M.Ramamoorthy, Principal, Bharathidasan College of Arts and Science. Team Members of Emergency Care Unit VIMS Hospital, Salem made aware of the Basic Life Support during emergency situations to our students.
